Use postgresql as application database

With javascript, too many people tend to use mongo and other no-sequel based datastore. In our opinion, the application database that is constantly updated should be a sql database. There is a ton of benefits to using a structured database. It helps reduce software complexity. All BI(business intelligence tools) work really well with SQL databases.

Among the sql databases, we tend to prefer Postgresql, one because we have been using it for a long time now and is super familiar with it, two – postgres has native support for JSONB. Sometimes when you have additional details in your early stages of app development, that are not really structured, it helps to store that in JSONB. Those JSON data is still queryable(performance on these queries might be a bit lower than regular columns).
